Travel
Hopkins Youth Hockey Association (HYHA) and Hopkins Park Girls Hockey (HP) offer both youth and girls teams. The Travel level classifications for youth are Squirts (ages 9-10), Peewees (ages 11-12) and Bantams (ages 13-14). The girls Travel level classifications are 10U, 12U and 15U. Age groups are divided by birthdate (June1st - May 31st).
Teams within each level are determined through a tryout process to place kids on teams with players of similar skill and experience. League games are played in the west metro area and the season includes out of town travel to weekend tournaments.
HYHA is a volunteer lead organization that depends on all participating Travel family's compliance with the volunteer policy
MN HOCKEY PLAYER PARTICIPATION POLICY
Minnesota Hockey has implemented a New Waiver Rule, which will be effective starting the 2024-25 season.
HYHA Pre-Season And Tryout Expectations
Pre-Season Clinics will start after Labor Day. Clinics will be 4-7 days a week depending on level. Tryouts will be early October for the youth levels. HP Girls tryouts will be in November. More information about tryouts can be found in the HYHA tryout process and policy document.
Squirt Season Expectations
The season starts at the beginning of October. Squirts will practice 4-6 times a week depending on level.
District 3 league games start mid-November. Each team will participate in 3-4 travel tournaments during the season. The end of the season District 3 tournament is in early March.
Peewee Season Expectations
The season starts at the beginning of October. Peewees will practice 5-6 times a week depending on level.
District 3 league games start at the beginning of November. Each team will participate in 3-4 travel tournaments during the season. The end of the season District 3 tournament will start mid-February
Bantam Season Expectations
The season starts at the beginning of October. Bantams will practice 6-7 times a week depending on level.
District 3 league games start at the beginning of November. Each team will participate in 3-4 travel tournaments during the season. The end of the season District 3 tournament will start mid-February.

*Players that make the Peewee A or Bantam A level will be charged an additional fee after the teams are posted.
If this is your first year playing with HYHA or HP, you will need to provide a birth certificate to the Registrar before your registration will be confirmed.
